Applications are invited for a temporary & contractual post of Project Scientist under the project entitled “Process modelling and optimization of reduction and distillation operations of Titanium Sponge processing” at IIT Kanpur.

Minimum Qualification: PhD or Postgraduate (+ 3 Yrs. of Exp.) in Metallurgical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or related fields.

Desirable Skills and Experience:

1. Strong foundation in Transport Phenomena (Fluid flow, Heat and Mass transfer)
2. Basic understanding on Thermodynamics of Materials and Kinetics of Processes
3. Proficiency in using computational tools (such as ANSYS-FLUENT) for process simulation and data analyses.

Nature of work:

The successful candidate is expected to perform the following tasks:

1. Develop CFD-based process models for unit processes in Ti-sponge production via the Kroll’s process.
2. Collect plant data from industrial-scale reactors to validate and fine-tune the process models

In addition to the above, the candidate may have to perform additional tasks as assigned by the project investigators.

Salary: Rs. 30,000 per month

Term of Appointment: The appointment will be purely on temporary and contractual basis initially for a period of one year or end of the project, whichever is earlier
