Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) invites applications for a Project Scientist in an ISRO-funded Research Project, in the Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Kanpur.
Position Details: The candidate must have an MSc or MTech in Geology/Earth Sciences with a specialization in Structural Geology, Igneous Petrology and/or Metamorphic Petrology or MSc in Chemistry. Working experience with rock and mineral identification and thin section preparation is preferable. The position does not commit to any academic degree.

Selection: The selection committee approved by IIT Kanpur reserves the right to fix suitable criteria for shortlisting eligible candidates satisfying qualifications, experience, and recommendations. Only short-listed candidates will be called for an interview. If shortlisted, copies of relevant certificates will be required, and be checked against original certificates at the time of interview.
Job Responsibilities: The successful candidate (i) should go to the field to collect samples, prepare them for measurements of several physical properties, (ii) work closely with the other research groups at IIT Kanpur and ISRO, (iii) prepare and maintain database and (iv) write reports in English.
Terms of Employment:
- The Project Scientist position is full-time and contractual.
- The successful candidate initially be employed for one year.
- Salary: Rs 28600, 18% HRA per month.
- Other facilities will be as per the rules of IIT Kanpur.
