Role Description

This is one of the leadership roles at Just Transition Research Centre, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, IIT Kanpur. The role involves writing research proposals, securing research grants, guiding team members in conducting high-quality research, producing top-tier reports, and managing a team of researchers. The role also requires collaboration with other verticals to advance the goals of the Centre.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Planning and execution of projects, fieldwork, travel to field sites, and interacting with stakeholders.
  • Writing project reports, proposals, and academic publications.
  • Handling quantitative/qualitative data.
  • Organizing workshops with stakeholders.
  • Other tasks assigned by the reporting authority.

Selection Criteria

Education
  • Ph.D. in agriculture / rural development / economics.
  • Two Scopus indexed publications.
  • H-index- 5 and above.

Experience
  • 7+ years of experience after PhD in research and project management.
  • Proven record with at least 5 completed projects.
  • Participation in at least one international project.
  • Mobilizing large scale funds preferably from international funder.

Skills and Competencies
  • Strong leadership and strategic planning skills.
  • Expertise in climate change research and policy analysis.
  • Certified project management and organizational abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage a variety of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using technology and data analytics tools in research – i.e., statistical analysis with SPSS / Python / R / Orange; qualitative analysis using MAXQDA / ATLAS.ti / NVivo; Excel.
