Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the Research Assistant post on a contract basis for the ICSSR Research project entitled “Documentation of Monsang Indigenous Knowledge System for Sustainable Development” under Dr. Sh. Francis Monsang, Assistant Professor, Department of Humanities & Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Essential Qualification: Postgraduate in Social Science discipline with a minimum of 55%, and with NET/M.Phil./Ph.D.

Desirable Qualifications:

Master Degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Tribal Studies, or Linguistics
Experience in projects/research with qualitative data collection/ethnographic fieldwork
Computer knowledge
Writing Skills in English
Working knowledge of Manipuri

Job Specifications: Research tool development, Intensive field visits and fieldwork, Data Collection, Data Analysis, Report Writing and any other responsibilities assigned by the Project Director.

Emolument: Rs. 37,000/-p.m. (consolidated without HRA)

Duration: For a period of 12 months (extendable for another 6 months)

Location of the fieldwork: Chandel District Headquarters, Manipur, in northeast India
