Since the birth of the department in 2001 the department has put in efforts to address key questions in most of the fields of modern biology. It has labs working dedicatedly in all these fields namely; Bioinformatics, Biomaterials, Cancer Biology, Cell Biology, Developmental Biology, Gene therapy, Molecular genetics, Metabolic Disorders, Microbiology, Structural Biology, Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, Neuroengineering and Tissue Engineering,’. Furthermore, the department has a strong industry-academia relation with multiple start-up as well as established companies which bring about specific expertise and exposure for the labs and the students.
The establishment of Gangwal School of Medical Sciences and Technology will exponentially increase clinically oriented research in the department with strong collaborations with clinicians housed in there.
