Academic Background:

Dr. Arjun Bagchi obtained his PhD from Harishchandra Research Institute (HRI) in erstwhile Allahabad in 2011. He was subsequently a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Edinburgh (UK), a Lise Meitner fellow at Vienna University of Technology (Austria), a junior professor at Indian
Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune and a Fulbright Fellow at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, USA.

Dr. Bagchi joined the Department of Physics at IIT Kanpur in early 2016.

Research Interests:

Dr. Bagchi is broadly interested in string theory, quantum field theory and gravity. In particular, his research has been focused on the understanding of the Holographic Principle beyond AdS/CFT and
specifically in the context of asymptotically flat spacetimes. He is also interested in the very high energy limit of string theory and in exotic quantum field theories where Lorentz symmetries are absent.
